Dt. Singh, Incorporating cognitive aids into decision support systems: the case of the strategy execution process, DECIS SUP S, 24(2), 1998, pp. 145-163
This paper emphasizes the need to support decision makers in their executio
n of decision-making strategies. In particular, it discusses the specific c
ognitive requirements of the strategy execution process and uses the insigh
ts generated as the conceptual basis from which to guide the design of cogn
itive aids to be incorporated into decision support technology. The impact
of such cognitive aids is then empirically tested. The results indicate tha
t computerized cognitive aids can successfully be designed into DSS to supp
ort decision makers' strategy execution process and that such aids have a s
ignificant positive impact on both decision-making efficiency and effective
ness. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
