Abstract
Spotsize converters (SSCs) that can be integrated with a deep ridge wavegui de have been developed. By obtaining low loss coupling of a deep ridge and buried waveguide, an SSC loss of <2dB has been realised. The 1dB-down toler ances in the lateral and vertical directions are increased to +/-2.2 and 2. 0 mu m, respectively.
