Abstract
The first use of a frequency-doubled copper vapour laser to write fibre Bra gg gratings is described. The peak reflectivity of these gratings is compar able to that obtained using a CW frequency-doubled argon laser of similar a verage power. Average UV powers > 2W enabled multiple, essentially identica l gratings to be written simultaneously.
