Some regularities and specific features of lead distribution in soils of th
e Transbaikal region are revealed. It is found that there is a close correl
ation between the lead content in soils and in soil-forming rocks, but ther
e is no correlation between the first characteristic and the humus content.
A high lead content in the soil-forming rocks and soils of the region (2.2
times higher than the clarke) is determined. Lead concentration in the abo
veground parts of plants of steppe, meadow, and agricultural landscapes is
close to the clarke and is harmless for plants and animals.
