Abstract
This paper presents the experimental investigation of the application of an image restoration technique aimed at improving the accuracy of infrared su rface temperature measurements of cubes placed in a vertical channel flow. These cubes, used to determine distributions of the local heal transfer coe fficient, show large spatial temperature gradients. The image restoration t echnique, developed to correct the spatial image degradation, is based on t he two-dimensional Optical Transfer Function constructed from line spread f unctions (LSF). The benefit of the application of the infrared image restor ation technique is verified with temperature measurements acquired from a s econd independent technique.
