Ml. Kalezic et A. Djorovic, Life history-dependent sexual size dimorphism in the crested newt, Triturus carnifex (Caudata), FOL ZOOL, 47(4), 1998, pp. 317-319
Crested newt females and males appeared to have similar age at sexual matur
ity, longevity and annual survival rates, and probably insignificant growth
during adult phase. The hypothesis, that processes operating during juveni
le life rather than during adulthood promote intersex differences in adult
body size in this species, seems to hold.
