An experiment conducted for 3 years indicated that cotton (Gossypium hirsut
um L.)+ onion (Allium sativum L.) during rainy season (kharif), followed by
wheat (Triticum aestivum L. amend. Fiori. & Paol.) during winter season (r
abi) was the most efficient system (4,638 kg/ha) over the existing cotton-w
heat (3,254 kg/ha) and cotton + maize (Zea mays L.) intercropping system (2
,381 kg/ha) in terms of seed-cotton-yield equivalent. Seed-cotton yields we
re not reduced when grown with onion, while it was reduced when grown with
soybean.
