The catalytic dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone is an indust
rially important reaction. The catalysts La2CuO4 and strontium substituted
lanthanum copper oxide Sr-0.2, La-1.8, CuO3.9 have been evaluated for their
catalytic activities. They found to yield cyclohexanone in die temperature
range of 573-613K beyond which dehydration is favoured. The results obtain
ed by the flow reactor technique were fitted in different models (Langmuir-
Hinshelwood mechanism) to find out the rate determining step using a non-li
near least square fitting computer programme. The most suitable model was f
ound to be a Langmuir Hinshelwood model involving surface reaction-dual sit
e with negligible adsorption of cyclohexanone and hydrogen.
