V. Descamps et al., SEVERE MESNA-INDUCED ERUPTION IN A PATIENT WITH POLYARTERITIS-NODOSA, EJD. European journal of dermatology, 7(3), 1997, pp. 175-176
Mesna (2-mercaptoethane sulfonate) is used to prevent cyclophosamide-a
ssociated urotoxicity, Drug eruptions from mesna have been reported on
ly rarely, and were usually minor macular or urticarial rashes. A case
of a severe, mesna-induced eruption with detachment of 20% of the ski
n is reported in a patient with polyarteritis nodosa. From the clinica
l course and a positive intradermal skin test with mesna (0.1%), mesna
was thought to be the cause.
