Abstract
The catalytic reduction of CO2 gas without protonic solvents was demonstrat ed successfully using a new electrochemical hydrogenation system constructe d previously by us. Formic acid was detected as a product of the CO2 reduct ion together with H-2 evolution as a by-product. The maximal current effici ency for formic acid production in the present study was about 75%, and it depended on the reaction time and current density for the palladization.
