The paper deals with the evaluation of the explosive welding of a ring to t
he axisymmetric steel body (projectile). The two experimental methods (Hopk
inson Split Pressure bar and Taylor Test) were used for the determination o
f the constitutive equations of materials of ring and body. These equations
, together with the equations describing the damage development, were used
in three-dimensional finite element code. This code also enabled simulation
of the explosion detonation process. The computed pressure-time history ag
reed well with experimental ones. The results of the numerical simulation w
ere compared with experimental ones. The field experiments, i.e. the behavi
our of the whole body during the launching, confirmed the very good quality
