B. Majhi et al., Viscometric and ultrasonic investigation of solute-solvent interaction of hexadecylamine based Schiff's base in ethanol at 303.15 K, J MOL LIQ, 79(1), 1999, pp. 59-68
The ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity of salicylaldehyde (SA), hex
adecylamine (HDA), 1:1 mixture (of SA& HDA) and Schiff's base (synthesized
from SA & HDA) in ethanol at 303.15 K have been measured. The ultrasonic ve
locity data are used to estimate various acoustic parameters such as isentr
opic compressibility, intermolecular free length, acoustic impedance, molar
sound velocity and molar compressibility. These parameters along with the
B-coefficient as calculated from Jones-Dole equation provide information ab
out the type of interaction taking place in these systems. The ultrasonic v
elocity data of salicylaldehyde + ethanol have been analyzed in terms of No
moto and ideal mixing relations. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights
