The electrooptical method for the study of colloids, suspensions, and
molecular liquids (for example, solutions of large molecules) sensitiv
e only to the permanent electric dipole moment of the particles is des
cribed. This method is based on intersecting electric fields of a spec
ial type. The theoretical basis of the method is outlined; the experim
ental data are highly consistent with the estimations obtained earlier
by the method of rotating electric field.
