N. Efe et al., Application of calibration standardization method to the analysis of diuretic pharmaceutical herbs, J RAD NUCL, 238(1-2), 1998, pp. 97-99
Calibration standardization of X-ray fluorescence method was carried out fo
r the determination of the anorganic contents in diuretic herbs as called F
olia Betulae, Stylus Maydis, Flares Verbasci, Equisetum Arvense and Flos He
lichrysi, growing in Turkey. These herbs are widely used in pharmacy and pu
blic health for kidney disease theraphy. Herb samples were steeped in the w
ater and mixed through the pure cellulose, then pelletized in the intermedi
ate thickness. An annular source of Cd-109 (3.7 MBq) was used for excitatio
n of fluorescent K lines of elements lying between potassium and zirconium.
Toxic elements in considerable amounts were not found.
