The separation of uranium and thorium from matrices containing various meta
l ions, was studied. The mobile phase contains iso-propyldithiophosphoric a
cid (i-PrDTP), as a complexing agent, in order to differentiate the studied
species by modifying their retention. The paper reports the successful sep
aration and the quantitative determination of uranium and thorium in the pr
esence of Ni2+, Co2+ and Ag+ in the concentration range 2.5-25 mu g/mu l fo
r uranium and 2.5-30 mu g/mu l for thorium.
