Tj. Bivalacqua et al., Effects of candesartan and PD123319 on responses to angiotensin II in the anesthetized mouse, J AM S NEPH, 10, 1999, pp. S98-S100
The effects of candesartan (30 mu g/kg iv) and PD123319 (10 mg/kg iv) on ch
anges in systemic arterial pressure in response to angiotensin II (AngII) w
ere investigated in the anesthetized mouse. Intravenous injections of AngII
caused dose-related increases in systemic arterial pressure. Pressor respo
nses to AngII were attenuated by candesartan but were not altered by PD1233
19. Neither candesartan nor PD123319 had a significant effect on baseline s
ystemic arterial pressure or on the increase in arterial pressure in respon
se to nonpinephrine, The present results suggest that increases in systemic
arterial pressure in response to AngII in the anesthetized mouse are media
ted by AT(1) receptors and that AT(2) receptors do not modulate the presser
response to AngII.
