Three-dimensional numerical simulation was made for the hydrogen flame inje
cted into the wake of a bluff-body type flameholder placed in an air stream
. This analysis of the flame structure was aimed at designing the optimum c
ombustion system of high performance. The velocity and pressure field were
numerically solved using the SIMPLER algorithm. Turbulence model was based
on Myong-Kasagi's low Reynolds number type k-epsilon model. The turbulent c
ombustion was simulated by using Magnussen's eddy dissipation model. The si
mulated results showed a reasonable agreement with the species concentratio
n profile observed in the wake.
