Abstract
The Food and Drug Administration is charged with ensuring that the drugs so ld in the United States are both safe and effective and that they are adver tised honestly. This article reviews the application of these responsibilit ies during the clinical development of the hormonal products used in the tr eatment of prostate cancer.
