Abstract
The results of sampling on the island and continental territories of Equato rial Guinea are reported. There are no previous records of Myxomycetes from this country. A total of 142 samples representing 40 different species hav e been studied. The substrata and distribution on the African continent are included for each taxon, as are taxonomic comments and SEM photographs for some species. Twenty species were collected on Bioko Island, while 30 spec ies were recorded from the continental territory of Rio Muni, but no signif icant differences other than in numbers were noted between the insular and the continental species. Diderma deplanatum Fr. and Enteridium splendens va r: juranum (Meyl.) Hark. are first records for Africa, and also Physarum pl icatum Nann.-Bremek. & Y. Yamam. which was previously known from Nepal and Japan only. The Afro-montane character of Diderma subasteroides M.L. parr i s confirmed, as it was found on Basile peak on Bioko Island at 2,100 m alt.
