Abstract
Highly androgenic exotic DH lines were good sources for introducing haploid induction ability into nonresponsive elite lines via crossing. Transplanta tion of the plantlets into soil appeared as a physiological shock which res ulted in a reduced number of adult plants. The spontaneous chromosome doubl ing rate was not very high in the genotypes examined, but 20 of fertile pla nts could be achieved from the cultured embryoids in the case of the best-r esponding single cross hybrid. The results indicate the necessity of improv ing the culture conditions in the plant regeneration phases and of elaborat ing an efficient genome doubling technique.
