The electro-optic properties of proton implanted LiNbO3 waveguides are inve
stigated by measuring the guided mode angular shift when an electric field
is applied. It is shown that the values of the r(13) and r(33) electro-opti
c coefficients are rather well preserved in the waveguides, being independe
nt of the implanted-proton dose in the investigated range (1-10x10(16) ions
/cm(2)). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
