Hk. Min et E. Melachrinoudis, The relocation of a hybrid manufacturing/distribution facility from supplychain perspectives: a case study, OMEGA-INT J, 27(1), 1999, pp. 75-85
In this paper we present a real-world case study involving the re-location
of a combined manufacturing and distribution (warehousing) facility. The re
location decision was called to adapt to dynamic changes in business enviro
nments surrounding the firm's supply chain operations. Such changes include
changes in supplier and customer bases, distribution networks, corporate r
e-engineering, business climate and government legislation. To aid manageme
nt in formulating a more efficient and effective relocation strategy, we de
signed the configuration of supply chain networks and assessed the viabilit
y of the proposed sites from supply chain perspectives using the analytic h
ierarchy process (AHP). (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
