Abstract
We investigate the influence of nonlinear optical Faraday rotation on polar ization multistability and modulational instabilities in nonlinear resonato rs. The potential use of gyrotropic cavities for implementing a light polar ization-controlled set-reset flip-flop element and a high-repetition-rate p ulse train generator is analysed.
