Abstract
We have studied the approach of the Abelian sand pile model towards the sta tionary, self-organized criticality state. The uncorrelated limit is shown both numerically and by a simple analysis to follow the log-normal distribu tion. We introduce and evaluate several correlation functions to study the correlated region. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
