A method of obtaining a bounded feedback which stabilizes a linear dynamica
l system is described. The attainment of a positional solution of a special
auxiliary linear-quadratic problem of optimal control using an optimal reg
ulator is the basis of the method. The results are illustrated for the well
-known problem of the stabilization of a pendulum in the upper unstable pos
