Resin transfer molding of BMIs and polymides

Bismaleimdes (BMI) and experimental polyimides were resin transfer molded i nto carbon fiber fabrics using a custom-built injection mold placed within a vacuum hot press. This represents the first time that the latter type of materials has been resin transfer molded. This is a critical stage in devel oping materials and processing methods for future aerospace applications, s uch as the High Speed Civil Transport (HSCT).
