Vv. Egorov et al., Electrode based on neutral carriers of the amine character and selective to the H+ ions: A simple quantitative description of the operation limits, RUSS J ELEC, 34(12), 1998, pp. 1336-1344
The lower and higher assay limits of an electrode, selective to the H+ ions
and based on neutral carriers of amine character, are described quantitati
vely in the framework of the model of an ideally associated solution. The l
imits are expressed as a function of the lipophilicity, the concentration o
f ions of the supporting electrolyte, the amine basicity, and the ratio bet
ween concentrations of the neutral carrier and the liquid ion-exchanger in
the membrane. Simple quantitative relationships are obtained allowing one t
o purposefully search for the composition of a membrane with required prope
rties. The calculated operation limits are in good agreement with the exper
imental data.
