Abstract
Transmission of a 10Gbit/s return-to-zero (RZ) signal at 1300nm over 5 50km of standard singlemode fibre is demonstrated. The effect of semic onductor optical amplifiers, different filter techniques and the varia tion of the carrier wavelength around the gain maximum on the transmis sion capacity is experimentally and numerically studied.
