Abstract
This paper explores the Confucian and the Taoist conceptions of mind and kn owledge, polarises the two recent approaches in Western multimethodology, a nd suggests that differences between the two approaches can be channelled t o form a creative tension like that between the yin and yang, so that each can improve and enrich itself more consciously and spontaneously through mu tual challenging and mutual learning.
