Abstract
We propose an effective procedure, based on rather simple mathematical calculations, for optimal cavity design for a variety of laser geomet ries. In addition to the well-known guidelines from the literature, we suggest ways for the further optimization of a four-mirror cavity. Th e possibilities of using three- and two-mirror resonators for building compact Kerr-lens lasers are considered. (C) 1997 Optical Society of America.
