Abstract
In this paper, the current practice for the assessment of aerobic endogenou s decay rate has been critically evaluated and a new method has been propos ed for the experimental determination of heterotrophic endogenous respirati on rate under aerobic and anoxic conditions. The suggested method is tested on activated sludge samples grown on domestic sewage yielding b(H) values markedly lower than the reported results.
