The surface layers of nanocrystalline materials prepared by the annealing o
f the Fe-based alloys produced by melt spinning method exhibit different ma
gnetic properties when compared with the bulk properties. This is caused by
the presence of defects in surface layers and by the concentration gradien
t of chemical elements along the axis perpendicular to the ribbon surface.
The aim of this work was to study the influence of the Fe substitution by v
arious chemical elements in FINEMET nanocrystalline alloy on the surface-la
yer and bulk coercivity.
