Abstract
A modified method for measurement of the <(lambda)over bar> - parameter wit hin irregular eutectic structure is presented. It requires to determine bot h lambda(min) - parameter on longitudinal section of sample and lambda(max) - parameter on transverse section. The estimation of the <(lambda)over bar > - parameter corresponds with theoretical definition of the <(lambda)over bar> - parameter, basing on the analysis of volume fraction balance of eute ctic phases. The determination of the <(lambda)over bar> - parameter takes into account two characteristic structural parameters, lambda(min) - corres ponding to the criterion of minimum entropy production with defines the sta tionary eutectic growth and lambda(max) - corresponding to the criterion of marginal stability which describes the maximum destabilization of the s/l interface of non-faceted eutectic phase.
