C. Lin et al., Axisymmetrical two-dimensional heterogeneous mass transfer model for the absorption of gas into liquid-liquid dispersions, CHEM ENG SC, 54(3), 1999, pp. 389-399
A new axisymmetrical two-dimensional heterogeneous mass transfer (ATHMT) mo
del has been proposed to describe the mass transfer rate for a gas-liquid-l
iquid system containing droplets which are less than, equal to, or even lar
ger than the liquid film thickness. The model accounts for droplet-droplet
and droplet-film interactions. The finite-difference technique has been use
d to solve the model equations. The effect of dispersed phase holdup, dropl
et size, partition coefficient and chemical reaction on the mass transfer e
nhancement has been discussed. The experimental data available in the liter
ature have been used to verify the model, and the agreement has been found
to be fair. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
