Abstract
We have shown that the chemical redox properties of an ambient medium in wh ich there is a wire bridge from a high-ohmic alloy can exert, under some co nditions, a strong effect on bridge heating by the electric current at a st age close to its fracture (blowout), thus promoting or hindering the occurr ence of an additional stage of heating of the already melted bridge.
