Abstract
Mechanical alloying allows to synthesize nanocrystalline powder. In the cas e of thermoelectric compounds, the very small grain size can enhance the fi gure of merit by decreasing the thermal lattice conductivity. In this note, we present some preliminary results which we have obtained by applying thi s technique to CeFe4Sb12, a skutterudite compound with very promising therm oelectric properties, and the two substituted compounds CeFe3.5Ni0.5Sb12 an d CeFe4Sb11Te.
