Abstract
A variable delay line for phased-array antennas based on a chirped fib re Bragg prating is demonstrated. The time delay of a microwave modula ting signal is modified by scanning in wavelength a chirped grating. I n this initial experiment, time delay variations up to 556ps have been achieved using a grating of 0.4nm bandwidth and 6cm length and modula ting in the frequency range 390MHz-5.20GHz.
