P. Majewski et al., ENHANCED PINNING BY 2ND-PHASE PRECIPITATES IN SR RICH BI2SR2CACU2O8 CERAMICS, Physica. C, Superconductivity, 249(3-4), 1995, pp. 234-240
From a consideration of the phase equilibrium diagram of the system Bi
2O3-SrO-CaO-CuO, a simple annealing procedure was developed to precipi
tate Bi2+xSr2-xCuO6+d,Sr14Cu24O41-x and Bi2Sr3O6 in high-temperature s
uperconducting ''Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8'' ceramics. The transformation results
in a four-fold increase of the critical current density at 0.5 to 1 T,
which is believed to reflect the increased pinning properties of thes
e ceramics by second-phase precipitates.
