Thermal conductivity of the improper ferroelastic Gd-2(MoO4)(3) crystal has
been studied in the temperature range from 0.5 to 80 K by the steady-state
heat-now method. The ferroelastic domain walls were found to be strong cen
ters of phonon scattering, At temperatures lower than 40 K, the thermal con
ductivity of the singledomain samples was by almost one order of magnitude
greater than that of the multidomain ones.
