Abstract
The polarization-transfer coefficients K-y(x'x'-y'y'), K-y(z'z') and K-y(y' ), K-z(x') have been measured in the elastic scattering reactions of D(p)ov er-right-arrow,(d)over-right-arrow)p and D(p)over-right-arrow,(p)over-right -arrow)d at E-lab(p) = 19.0 MeV, respectively. They are compared to solutio ns of the three-nucleon Faddeev equations obtained with the recent nucleon- nucleon interactions AV18, CD Bonn, NijmI and II. Effects of the Tucson-Mel bourne three-nucleon force, adjusted separately to reproduce the triton bin ding energy for each of these potentials, are studied. Both K-y(y') and K-z (x') exhibit a scaling behaviour with the triton binding energy. For K-y(x' x'-y'y') and K-y(z'z') the various predictions with two-nucleon forces only agree practically with each other but spr ead after inclusion of the three -nucleon force. The agreement of theory and data is fair but the neglect of the proton-proton Coulomb force precludes a final conclusion.
