Abstract
There has been some confusion over the energy stored in a permanent magnet, with many texts and some finite element packages giving incorrect values. We demonstrate the correct formulation, under both normal operation and par tial demagnetization, and discuss the physical meaning of stored energy in a permanent magnet.
