Overview of ETC program in Korea

Electro Magnetic Launcher Technology had been investigated in South Korea s ince 1989. The muzzle velocities up to 4.3km/sec were obtained using 1.3g p rojectiles in 1991. Since 1992, the Korea Program was concentrated on Elect ro Thermal Chemical Technology instead of EML technology. Caliber 20mm ETC gun nas designed and set up together with the pulse-forming network of capa citor bank. Projectile, 107 grams, was accelerated to up to 1.24km/sec. The new Korea ETC program is established to investigate ETC launcher, compulsa tor, power switch, etc. And the whole program will be performed by Agency f or Defense Development with the helps of some Korean institutes and industr ies.
