The resistogram typing of the 65 Salmonella isolates of poultry and its env
ironment has shown 36 different patterns. Among the various dyes and chemic
als used organisms evinced a high rate of resistance to the chemicals such
as 0.7% copper sulphate (81.54%) and 0.003% malachite green (78.46%) follow
ed by 0.09% acriflavine (69.23%) and 0.0006% phenyl mercuric nitrate (67.69
%). The copper sulphate and malachite green have the least discriminating a
bility in the differentiation of strains in resistogram typing. Among the d
yes and chemicals used only 3 out of 65 isolates have shown resistance to 0
.7% 4-chloresorcinol.
