M. Amir et S. Shahani, Synthesis and antiinflammatory activity of naphthylmethyl oxadiazoles, thiadiazoles and triazoles, I J HET CHE, 8(2), 1998, pp. 107-110
A series of 5-naphthylmethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles (IVa-c, VII, VIII), 1,3,4-th
iadiazoles (Va-c) and 1,2,4-triazoles (Vla-c) have been synthesized from 2-
naphthylacetic acid via N-naphthylacetyl-N-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazides (III
a-c). The thiosemicarbazides (IIIa-c) have been readily obtained from 2-nap
hthylacetic acid hydrazide (II) in good yield. These new molecules have bee
n evaluated for their antiinflammatory activity. The tested compounds show
15.58% to 70.13% inhibition at 100 mg/kg dose compared to ibuprofen which s
hows 61.04% inhibition at 100 mg/kg dose in carrageenih induced edema in ra
ts.
