Pr. Contreras et al., Inactivation of respiratory syncytial virus by generic hand dishwashing detergents and antibacterial hand soaps, INFECT CONT, 20(1), 1999, pp. 57-58
In an in-vitro test, generic liquid hand dishwashing detergents were as muc
h as 100-fold more effective than proprietary antibacterial soaps in inacti
vating respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The use of such detergents for ha
nd washing during annual RSV' epidemics, or the incorporation of their anti
viral components into antibacterial soaps might be considered to limit noso
comial spread.
