Abstract
Using powder X-ray diffraction and Te K-edge EXAFS data, discrete tetrahedr al TeO42- (Te-O 1.81-1.85 Angstrom) groups have been refined in the structu re of Cs2TeO4; Te-125 MASNMR confirms the presence of tetrahedral units. Th e use of a combined data analysis technique allows the determination of lig ht atom positions in the presence of heavy elements using X-ray methods alo ne. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
