Abstract
Fe73.5Cu1Si13.5B12 and Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9 nanocrystallized amorphous ribb ons are investigated. To obtain the nanocrystalline state, a new kind of tr eatment is performed: nitriding thermochemical treatment (NTT). We show tha t this treatment can slightly improve the nanocrystalline state compared to the conventional thermal treatment (CTT). The new treatment leads to small er grain size and higher crystalline volume fraction. It increases the Curi e temperature of the crystalline alpha-FeSi phase and leads to smaller valu es of the magnetostriction constant. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rig hts reserved.
