Abstract
The complement fixation test (CFT) was performed on 94 serum samples collec ted from 19 horses and 14 mules exhibiting respiratory disease syndrome, ap parently healthy 12 horses, 21 mules and 28 yaks to study the seroprevalenc e of C. psittacii. The complement fixing antibodies were detected in 78.57 per cent yaks and 45.45 per cent equines exhibiting respiratory disease syn drome with titres ranging from 1:16 to 1:64 and above. The seroprevalence a mong healthy, horses and mules was 16.66 and 23.80 per cent, respectively, with titres ranging from 1:4 to 1:32. The overall seropositivity was observ ed to be 46.80 per cent.
