Abstract
An improved treatment of compressed atoms allows to determine the equation of state of the White Dwarf. The results for the mass-radius relation are q ualitatively and quantitatively different from the ones obtained following the traditional derivations. The critical mass has a lower value, and, to t he same value of the equilibrium mass, corresponds a lower value of the rad ius of the star.
