Abstract
Little is known about the evolution of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) during pr egnancy. Some authors reported worsening of che liver disease during pregna ncy, whereas others reported stable conditions. We present two untreated pa tients who had remission of the autoimmune hepatitis in the second half of their pregnancies. One of the patients exhibited this phenomenon twice duri ng two consecutive pregnancies. We speculate that the immunosuppressive eff ect of pregnancy induced remission of the autoimmune hepatitis in our patie nts.
